Founder & CEO
With academic training at Yale in molecular biochemistry and biophysics, Nate has had a lifetime of interest in technology, food science and DIY food making. His hobbies include beekeeping, making wine, olive oil and vinegar, growing exotic fruits, and a host of weekend farming activities. Professionally, Nate has spent his career bringing new technologies to market across software, middleware and hardware. He started his career as an entrepreneur with the launch of CatchUP, the first web-based software updating service which was sold to CNET Networks. His next venture, GlooLabs, developed a platform for streaming music, photos and video content from home to smartphone (“place-shifting”), which ultimately was sold to the Linksys division of Cisco Systems. Next, Nate was part of the founding team of Tactus, a venture-backed hardware company developing next-generation, tactile touchscreen technology for mobile devices.
The development of CocoTerra draws on Nate’s knowledge and skills from all these different experiences to simplify the chocolate-making process so anyone can become a creative, successful and proud chocolate-maker.
